What Is Evidence-Based Practice In Social Work?

Evidence-based practice (EBP) was first coined by a Canadian medical group at McMaster University. The group defined EBP as a process that considers “the conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individuals” (Sackett, Richardson, Rosenberg, & Haynes, 1997).

Michelle Johnson, MSW, Doctoral Research Assistant and Michael J. Austin, Ph.D Professor from the School of Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkley.
