Selecting a Topic

Can't decide on a topic? Browse hundreds of topics in three of our databases designed especially for controversial issues and topics, Points of View Reference CenterSirs or Gale Opposing Viewpoints in Context.

A search of the online catalog will show you what books we have in the library collection.

Your searches will be more productive if you select a topic that's not too broad. Here's an example of how you might broaden or narrow the topic of drug abuse.

Drug abuse - too broad
Drug abuse and crime - better, but still a bit broad
Drug abuse and crime and United States - more manageable list of results

Off Campus Access

The library's databases are trustworthy sources of published information that include journals, magazines, newspapers, government documents, primary sources, images, maps, and TV and radio transcripts. You'll be asked to login when searching from off-campus. The username is your TJC A# and the password is the last 4 digits of your A# plus your 4 digit year of birth. For example, using A00012345 and the birth year of 2002, your login would be:

Username = A00012345
