Database vs Internet

Watch this very short video clip that demonstrates why you should consult the library's databases for your research rather than the internet.

Periodicals Collections & Online Databases

Our print collection of periodicals consists of academic journals, general interest magazines, and newspapers.  Newspapers include the Dallas Morning News, Tyler Morning Telegraph, and USA Today.  Newspapers, most journals, and magazines are located on the first floor. See the Journals and Magazines subject guide lists print journals available in the library.

The library's online databases offer 24/7 access from home or office to thousands of journals, magazines, newspapers, government documents, TV and radio transcripts and more.   You can search our full list of databases by subject or the alphabetical list.  Be sure to check out our individual online journals on that same page.

Online News and Newspapers

  • Regional Business News (EBSCO)

Computers and Printing

Students have access to approximately 70 computers on the first floor of the library.  The Technical Assistance Center on the first floor offers help to anyone needing assistance with the computers, printing, a password reset, access to the TJC wireless network, and other technical questions.

TJC manages computer printing through a system called PaperCut.  There are kiosks on the library’s first floor where patrons can insert cash (coins or paper currency).  Check with the tech staff stationed at the Technical Assistance Center for help.  Printers are set up around the library in order to better serve our patrons.  Walk up to any print station, key in your A#, and choose your print jobs to release for printing.  Printing for black and white is 10 cents per page, and 75 cents for color pages.
